Why are there only ten layouts put up per month?

To explain this question, I must first explain the concept up bandwidth. Everytime you access a webpage, the pages that you look at have to be transferred from the server where the website is hosted to your computer. This puts a certain amount of stress on the server, and, as a result, hosting companies put a limit on how much transfer a site can make per month. If a site goes over this limit, the hosting company will charge the site owner money. For me, there are so many people visiting this site, that when I have all the layout pages up at once, I get charged a whole lot of extra money for going over my monthly bandwidth limit. By putting up only 10 layouts per month, I can limit the number of pages that people can access, and thus lower the amount of transfer from my site to keep from going over.

Why do we need to pay for the layouts now?

This site gets an incredible amount of traffic-- enough traffic for me to be charged an incredible amount of money per month in overage charges. In November of 2004, I came to a point where I had to make a decision; I could not afford to keep the site up, so I could either take it down, or I could devise a plan to help pay for the extra charges. At this point, if even 1% of the visitors to this site sign up for membership, it will be enough to cover these charges.

Why not just put the site on a free web server like freewebs or geocities?

Because those sites have limits on how much traffic they can get, and at this point in time, if the site were transferred, it would be down pretty much all the time because of traffic overages.

what about all the old free layouts?

These will be rotated in and out of the free section every month, probably in groups of ten. This should keep the bandwidth down to a managable amount, even if no one signs up for membership.

How will we pay for the new membership?

This site uses Paypal, a secure and trusted name in money transfer over the internet. To get more information on how to sign up, click on the "Information" link in the Layouts section.
